Prevent Blindness America Web Forum Acanthamoeba and Fusarium Fungal Infections and Contact Lens Use

Acanthamoeba keratitis and Fusarium are contact lens related infections that can result in blindness. Corneal transplants may be necessary with prolonged medical therapies if not diagnosed early. This forum was formed to educate contact lens wearers on the risks and prevention of these infections. The MAAD group (Mothers Against Acanthamoeba Disease), which is part of this forum, was formed by five mothers who watched their children suffer through this tragedy. This forum provides an opportunity to seek guidance and support of others who are or have suffered through this potentially blinding infection.

It is also our goal to help educate consumers on all "water" related risks associated with contact lens wear.
