Vision problems are the number one handicap of school-aged children. In fact, 1 in 5 school-aged children has a significant visual impairment. Since 80% of what a child learns is visual, good eyesight is essential for learning; which is why Prevent Blindness Georgia is launching the $5.82 on-line fundraising campaign.
Why $5.82? This is the cost per child to provide a proper vision screening. By screening children at the prekindergarten level, vision problems can be detected and refractive correction prescribed before a child loses skills and confidence in school.
It is imperative that we continue to expand this program, to save children’s vision. We are asking you as a Friend of Prevent Blindness Georgia to learn more about this online campaign.
Please follow the very simple instructions to sign up. By doing so, you will raise awareness of PBGA, our programs and services, while raising much needed funds. We need your help, because young children with vision problems often do not know that the way they see the world is not the way everyone sees it.
$5.82 can save a child’s vision and change a child’s life. |
